Join HERSpace as we kick off Mother’s Day with our very first ever Mother Daughter Bollywood Dance Class!

Mother Daughter Dance 'n Heal

Join us on Friday, May 12th, from 7-9pm EDT at Women’s Health & Physiotherapy Centre in Whitby, for a special Bollywood dance class for mothers and daughters to kick off Mother's Day weekend!

Mamta of Motivate Through Purpose and Jothi of Jothi Creative Wellness and HERSpace, will host an intimate gathering of 8 mama daughter duos. Jothi will open up the space with somatic breathing, movement, and meditation. Mamta will lead us in a simple choreographed dance. Light refreshments will be served.

We acknowledge that not everyone identifies as a mother or daughter, and there are many mother daughter relationships that are lost, severed, and challenging. We invite caregivers and youth who feel a special connection to please join us.

*No dance experience is required. Wear comfy clothes and bring water.

Meet Mamta

Hi there! I'm Mamta, introductions eh ...let me keep it simple, clear and fun :)

- I'm 5ft, tiny but don't underestimate me hahaha

- I'm Canadian born, of Indian descent and live a fusion life of both cultures

- Spiritual

- I love music, dance gives me purpose

- Health & Art Enthusiast

- Autism Advocate

- Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Advocate

- BCaBA ( Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst)

During my healing journey from job burnout, I've started up a project that promotes healing through finding purpose in life. One thing that has given me healing that brought some of the biggest changes and purpose shifts in my life is: dance.

Dance is a form of art, creativity, expression, flow, synchronous movement, dopamine activator, motivating operation and many many more great things  from different perspectives and lenses. If I was speaking from a behaviour lens, when people are motivated in general they succeed the best.

Nonetheless all positive. Uplifting. Good chemical boosting.

Motivate Through Purpose ( MTP) is so excited to partner with Jothi Creative Wellness to bring fun Bollywood dancing to a healing space. It's an exciting movement.

I've been dancing my whole life, since I was 4 years old. I am not only trained in classical Bharatanatyam dancing but I have been choreographing for multicultural events since a very young age. I've instructed solo dance choreos to even groups of children choreos. But that's not the point- it's the wellness in the movement and the fun that really helps support healing. It also is a teaching from our ancestors - move your body.

Now imagine that within community? Bingo - now we are joining together to heal and have fun.

I'm really looking forward to this Mother's Day collab for mothers and daughters to come out, learn some fun Bollywood dance and enjoy themselves in a safe, inclusive healing space.
